Plague Year by Jeff Carlson

Plague Year by Jeff Carlson

Post- apocalyptic sci-fi thriller.
After an outbreak of a nanotechnology 'plague', originally intended for medical use, most of the population has been wiped out.
Those who survive are lucky - they have managed to reach the safety of an altitude of 10,000 feet above sea level where the atmospheric pressure below 70% , the pressure at which the nanobots are unable to function.
Above the earth astronauts aboard the International Space Station are trying to find a way to destroy the nanobots loose on the surface, unaware that their fate, and the fate of the rest of humanity, depends on one man barely alive in a group of survivors stranded on a mountain in Colorado.

An interesting novel. Harrowing and heart-felt at times.

# 25 on my list
